If you’re thinking of striving towards this career choice but aren’t sure about the qualifications required then look no further because here’s just two of the many options available to you.
1. Care Assistant – Part Time. Course number: 296412 (Fetch Courses).
This particular course is ran on a part time basis from the Tallaght Training Centre.
The aim of this programme is to enable the learner to develop the knowledge, skills and competencies to work as a care assistant in a healthcare setting. Learners will complete the key modules of ‘care of the older person and care skills’.
No formal education or qualifications are required although applicants may have participated in primary and secondary education. Applicants will however, be expected to demonstrate a standard of knowledge and skills equivalent to the NFQ level 4 when accessing a level 5 programme.
Applicants must have the motivation to learn, an interest in the subject at hand and the ability to acquire the knowledge and skills set out on the course.
In summary, this is a really good opportunity for someone who has a keen interest in pursuing the career of a care assistant but does not hold a prior qualification.
This course will run on Monday – Friday mornings for 20 weeks.

2. Care Assistant – Full time. Course number: 282278 (Fetch Courses).
This particular course is run on a full time basis in Baldoyle Training Centre.
The aim of this course is to enable the learner to develop the knowledge, skill and competencies to work as a care assistant. Within this course learners will complete the modules of ‘care of the older person and care skills’ in addition to CPR training and an induction on blended learning. On successful completion of this course, learners will have sufficient knowledge to become a care assistant and may progress to further education to complete their full QQI qualification.
Applicants must have obtained the minimum of a QQI level 4 major award or its equivalent. Good communication and interpersonal skills are also mandatory including a strong verbal command of the English language. Potential applicants for this position should have some previous experience within the healthcare position.
The course will run Monday to Friday for 7 weeks.
